Public Forums

Latino Townhall is also designed around the premise of gathering the Latino community to have a civil conversation about the issues affecting our community. The Latino community can no longer blame government, an ideology, a political party or other races for the dilemmas facing them. As a community, we must take full responsibility for ourselves by having public, private and virtual forums where we can vigorously discuss our challenges, and gather information to create and implement strategies that advance the whole community.

Our purpose is to host Public Forums where the Latino community is invited to participate and add to the conversation. We believe a conversation from top to bottom, where everyone is expected to add his or her wisdom to help our community.

Our most recent Townhall speakers have included:

Dr. Jannah Scott, Deputy Director, Center for Faith-Based and Community Initiatives, US Department of Homeland Security

Dr. Jannah Scott has more than 15 years of experience in engaging faith-based and community groups on government issues. Her most recent role was as policy advisor, Faith and Community Initiatives in the office of former Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano. In that role, Scott was responsible for advising the governor on how the state could best engage people of faith and goodwill on behalf of Arizona communities, with a special focus on capacity building; military/veterans’ affairs; immigration policy and international initiatives; emergency preparedness and stakeholder outreach to faith-based and community groups.  Prior to her state government work, she was an associate with the International Foundation, host of the annual National Prayer Breakfast. In that role, she provided strategic support to the foundation leadership team and coordinated U.S. and foreign associate efforts in more than 100 countries.
